Formed by Mother Earth: Copper is the 25th most abundant element in Earth's crust. It is also one of the few metals that is a directly usable in its natural form. Human use of the metal can be traced as far back as 8000 BCE. It was the first metal to be smelted from sulfide ores, the first metal to be casted in a mold, and the first metal to be intentionally alloyed with another metal (tin) to create bronze.
In Roman times, copper was mined principally on Cyprus and thus was named after the island. Aes сyprium (metal of Cyprus) was later changed into to сuprum in Latin and eventually evolved into copper as we know it today.
Spiritual Association: Copper represents Aphrodite and Venus in mythology and alchemy. Its reflective beauty, ancient use in producing mirrors, and its association with Cyprus, tie it to the sacred goddess of love, beauty, sex, fertility, prosperity and desire. The seven heavenly bodies known in ancient times were associated with the seven metals known in antiquity, and Venus was assigned to copper.
Materials: Handcrafted using raw copper and sealed with a protective clear coat to prevent tarnish.
