Handmade Jewelry Care Instructions
Quick Tips:
- Avoid wearing your jewelry when sleeping, showering, or exercising.
- Store your pieces in a cool, dry, place away from direct sunlight and moisture.
- Clean and store each piece separately after each use.
- Be gentle :-)
General Jewelry Care
It is recommended you do not sleep, shower, or engage in any strenuous activities in your jewelry.
Your jewelry should be put on after you have gotten dressed and applied all body/hair products (this includes products such as: hairspray, perfume, lotions, body spray, etc). Direct exposure to any beauty products can dull and harm your jewelry.
It is also recommended you remove jewelry before doing household chores. Many household cleaners contain chemicals that are harmful to jewelry.
It is best to clean your jewelry after each wearing with a soft cloth before storing in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Experts advise to store each piece in its own sealed bag and/or airtight container. Regular cleaning and proper storage will help remove the oils/debris picked up by your jewelry throughout the day and prevent tarnish and scratching.
Many styles have small, delicate accents that may be harmed while cleaning or if treated too roughly. Please be gentle with your handmade pieces to ensure their longevity!
Cleaning Wire Jewelry
Metals may naturally tarnish over time due to oxygen and body oils. To reduce tarnishing, use a soft cotton cloth or toothbrush to gently scrub off any oils/debris the jewelry has collected throughout the day. It is best to not use any water/liquid cleaning products as this can cause the piece to rapidly tarnish!
Cleaning Polymer Clay/Resin Jewelry
Use a soft cotton cloth to clean polymer clay and resin pieces. A slightly damp cloth may be used to clean if necessary. These materials are pretty durable, but they are not indestructible. Handle with care!
